The statistics for 2008 are in and, as reported above, we have not been hit like so many other areas of the country. Nationally home prices fell 26.2% in 2008 but the decline in the Greensboro market area was only 4.1%. Our adjusted sales price for 2008 was $186,823. The existing home that sold (remember these are averages) had 2,059 square feet, 1.5 levels, 2.3 baths, and 1.3 garage spaces.

UPDATE: First time homebuyers who purchase a home from the start of 2009 until December 1, 2009, may receive the lower of an $8000 or 10% tax credit. Remember this is a tax credit NOT a tax deduction. Home buyers who do not have a tax liability as high as the credit due will receive a check for the difference.
