Dublin is a city in Alameda County, California, USA. The population was 29,973 at the 2000 census. Dublin is home to the headquarters of Sybase, Inc. The city government is headed by a mayor. The mayor, in addition to four councilmembers, compose the City Council. The mayor is elected to a two-year term every even-numbered year. Councilmembers are elected to four year terms and represent the city at large. Elections are non-partisan. The current mayor, Janet Lockhart, first took office in 2001 when she was appointed to the office to fill the vacancy left by Guy S. Houston, who resigned to run for the California State Assembly. She was elected in 2002 and re-elected in 2004. Dublin Boulevard, a generally east/west road running just north of Interstate 580, was a part of the Lincoln Highway and later U.S. Highway 50. The street formerly curved southward near today's Hansen Drive to follow present-day Dublin Canyon Road toward Hayward. -- Source: Wikipedia.com
