La Palma is a city located in northern Orange County, California. The population was 15,408 at the 2000 census. It was originally incorporated as Dairyland but changed its name to the main street bisecting the town, La Palma Avenue, when the dairies moved in the 1960's. As of the census of 2000, there were 15,408 people, 4,979 households, and 4,227 families residing in the city. The population density was 3,286.8/km² (8,499.3/mi²). There were 5,066 housing units at an average density of 1,080.7/km² (2,794.5/mi²). The racial makeup of the city was 44.78% Asian, 43.04% White, 4.61% Black or African American, 0.31% Native American, 0.29% Pacific Islander, 3.47% from other races, and 3.50% from two or more races. 11.27% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race. -- Source: Wikipedia.com
