St. Maries is a city in Benewah County, Idaho, United States. The population was 2,652 at the 2000 census. The city is the county seat of Benewah County[1]. Pronounced St. Mary's. As of the census of 2000, there were 2,652 people, 1,061 households, and 675 families residing in the city.[4] The population density was 2,434.8 people per square mile (939.4/km²). There were 1,132 housing units at an average density of 1,039.3/sq mi (401.0/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 95.93% White, 1.73% Native American, 0.11% Asian, 0.19% from other races, and 2.04% from two or more races.
