As of the census of 2000, there were 9,952 people, 4,176 households, and 2,735 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 133.1/km² (344.6/mi²). There were 7,664 housing units at an average density of 102.5/km² (265.4/mi²). The racial makeup of the CDP was 90.97% White, 0.46% African American, 0.59% Native American, 1.57% Asian, 0.16% Pacific Islander, 4.34% from other races, and 1.91% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 12.13% of the population. There were 4,176 households out of which 25.1% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 56.2% were married couples living together, 5.5% had a female householder with no husband present, and 34.5% were non-families. 23.9% of all households were made up of individuals and 4.8% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
