Lincoln City was incorporated on March 3, 1965, uniting the cities of Delake, Oceanlake and Taft, and the unincorporated communities of Cutler City and Nelscott. These were adjacent communities along U.S. Route 101, which serves as Lincoln City's main street. The name "Lincoln City" was chosen from contest entries submitted by local school children. The contest was held when it was determined that using one of the five communities' names would be too controversial. Lincoln City is a city in Lincoln County, Oregon, United States. It is named after the county. The population was 7,437 at the 2000 census. Public schools in Lincoln City are served by the Lincoln County School District. Lincoln City has a weekly newspaper, The News Guard. The average temperature in January is a low of 36F, and in August the average high is 71F. The hottest month is, on average, August, while the coldest is January. The driest month on average is July, with December being the wettest. -- Source: Wikipedia.com
