Greenwood is a city in Greenwood County, South Carolina, in the United States. As of the 2000 census, the city population was 22,071. It is the county seat of Greenwood County. Every year in June, Greenwood plays host to the South Carolina "Festival of Flowers". Park Seed Corporation, located in Greenwood and one of the largest gardening companies in the world, plays a large part in the Emerald City's ability to host this event. The Festival encompasses far more than just a standard flower festival, and has also included Jazz concerts, Cessna flights for children, world food, a showcase for classic cars, and even a dog show. This event draws many gardening enthusiasts from around the nation. An excellent Family Medicine residency program is housed by Self Regional Hospital. The Family Physicians admit patients to the hospital, work in the Emergency Department, and are very active in many areas of local healthcare delivery.Greenwood's nickname is "The Emerald City." -- Source: Wikipedia.com
