The racial makeup of the city was 71.10% White, 4.34% African American, 0.63% Native American, 1.73% Asian, 0.07% Pacific Islander, 18.81% from other races, and 3.32% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 67.06% of the population. There were 8,943 households out of which 34.5% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 49.1% were married couples living together, 14.9% had a female householder with no husband present, and 31.4% were non-families. 23.5% of all households were made up of individuals and 7.7% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
