McKinney is a city in Collin County, Texas (USA). As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 54,369, while the 2006 population estimate is approximately 170,000. It is the county seat of Collin CountyGR6 and is a northern suburb of Dallas. According to the census, McKinney was the fastest growing city in the United States from 2000 to 2003 among cities larger than 50,000 people. This is due to the fact that McKinney is currently at the northeastern edge of the development in the fast growing suburbs north of Dallas. With the amount of land available within the city limits, McKinney will likely reach an ultimate population of over 350,000.
