Britain's Real Estate

The five ghastly "Jack the Ripper" murders took place in an area less than a quarter square mile in size. Houses in this haunting and decrepit no man's land straddling the City and metropolitan London could be had for 25-50,000 British pounds as late as a decade ago. How things change! The general buoyancy in real estate prices in the capital coupled with the adjacent Spitalfields urban renewal project have lifted prices. A house not 50 yards from the scene of the Ripper's last - and most gho more

Lacey was officially incorporated on December 5, 1966. At the time, the main industries were cattle, milk, forest products, and retail. Lacey became a "bedroom" community for Olympia and to some extent Tacoma. The city is a slower paced community with its best characteristics being in close proximity to many lakes and forests and also being close to the beautiful Nisqually Valley and the Nisqually Indians. Lacey sported the Northwest's first ever "indoor mall," the popular South Sound Shopping Center, however, this has been demolished and replaced by a Target chain store. When the Lacey Plywood Mill shut down, Lacey took on the challenges of being a place to invest in. Lacey now flourishes with retail, warehousing/distribution centers, a large retirement community, and Weyerhaeuser's corrugated container facility. -- Source: Wikipedia.com
